Of the many leadership, management, and organizational development books I’ve read and use, this is the one I want closest to my desk. The Field Guide pulls together the expertise of recognized researchers and consultants in the field of leadership and management to bring alive the concepts put forth in Peter Senge’s The Fifth Discipline. Senge serves as both editor and contributor for the Field Guide. The book is easy to use, and can be beneficial in a matter of minutes. Written as a field guide, readers can quickly locate chapters and sections that are of the most help for their current needs. The Field Guide contains many internal references to related sections in the book which allow the reader to easily navigate through the chapters to the desired ideas and exercises. I had fun just picking a topic from the table of contents, then following the references to new sections. The Fifth Discipline Field Guide continues to be a valuable tool in my practice.
